The development of Russia’s inland waterways and their full-fledged use has recently acquired an important socio-economic character. Increasing the role of rivers in creating a competitive transport system for the transportation of goods, ensuring connectivity of Russian territories, developing river tourist routes, and renovating coastal territories are the tasks of the near future.

The infrastructure projects planned as part of the Strategy for the Development of Inland Waterway Transport are designed to increase the level of capacity and increase cargo traffic along Russia’s inland waterways.

The implementation of measures to modernize the track infrastructure, upgrade the cargo, passenger and technical fleets will open up new business opportunities on the river and in related areas.
