The vessel “Ievoli Orange” completed a 6-month OSR watch while drilling a well in the Caspian Sea

The ice-class anchor handling vessel “Ievoli Orange” hassuccessfully finished the contract for patrol duty under the OSR plan in the Caspian Sea. For six months, the vessel almost continuously ensured the safety of the semi-submersible drilling rig (SSDR) Dada Gorgud, which was drilling a well on the Kazakh Caspian shelf (Zhenis block, development was carried out jointly by LUKOIL and KazMunayGas).

The Ievoli Orange vessel was equipped with two skimmers and booms more than 200 m long in case of an emergency oil spill. A team of five certified professional rescuers was on duty around the clock. Replenishment of bunker fuel and provisions was carried out once every three weeks at the port of Aktau. In addition to the long duration of continuous duty according to the OSR plan, a feature of this work was that the Ievoli Orange vessel overcame high waves – up to 6 meters – generated during drilling near the Dada Gorgud SSDR. Low temperatures in winter also added to the complexity of the work.

After completing the contract on the shelf of the Caspian Sea, the Ievoli Orange vessel headed to Baku, from where, with two barges, it passed along the inland waterways of the Russian Federation to the port of St. Petersburg.
