Morvenna participated in a discussion on the future of the Russian tugboat market

On June 4, a round table discussion entitled “Prospects for the tugboat market in Russia: technology, demand, and opportunities” was held in St. Petersburg.

Alexander Nikolaevich Baranov, the company’s founder, participated in this industry event.

Morvenna’s fleet includes:

– Modern transport and tug vessels, AHTS, built according to its own design at the private shipyard Thecla Bodewes Shipyards in the Netherlands. The tugs are equipped with a lifting

steering wheelhouse and are used to push objects with maximum height.

– Transport and tug vessels of various capacities from 2,200 hp to 23,500 hp with ice class.

– Soviet-built tugs/pushers – vessels of types OT-2000 / OT-2400, MB, BTO, RT, OTA.

The event presented the results of a survey that identified the main obstacles to the development of the tugboat market:

– Significant difference in construction costs compared to foreign shipyards

– Lack of domestic component equipment

– Lack of government support

The participants also discussed the potential for development in the Arctic zone and the Far East.

The Morvenna Shipping Company would like to thank the organizers – IAA PortNews, the Admiral S.O. Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, and Nordic Engineering JSC – for providing a professional platform for dialogue.
