Morwenna SC makes a presentation at the Ship Repair, Modernization, Components Conference

Morwenna Shipping took part in the 3rd edition of the Ship Repair, Modernization, Components conference on September 16, 2024, St. Petersburg organized by PortNews Media Group.

The conference brought together in the capital of shipbuilding more than 150 representatives of ship repair companies, equipment suppliers and ship owners to discuss the key challenges and prospects of the ship repair sector.

The conference participants addressed the growing demand for repair and modernization of the Russian fleet, problems of upgrading shipbuilding capabilities and ensuring stable supplies of ship equipment. The conference paid particular attention to the interaction of major customers with small ship repair yards, which is an important factor in increasing the efficiency of the industry.

Hector Rodriguez, Logistical Support Director, Morwenna, who made a report at the conference, told the participants about the ship repair work carried out on the company’s vessels in 2023-2024. He noted the successful completion of special surveys on Morwenna’s ten vessels and intermediate/drydock surveys on 14 vessels. Another eight ships of the fleet were repaired while operating on the Northern Sea Route.

Hector Rodriguez also noted in his report the challenges the company faced during the repair, including a shortage of qualified specialists at the shipyards and the workload of enterprises. To keep a high pace of work Morwenna solved these issues involving mobile maintenance teams.

The company has presented its strategic plans for 2024-2025, including routine and intermediate surveys on 24 vessels of its fleet, as well as the further involvement of mobile teams to solve complex challenges in conditions of limited infrastructure.
