Transportation of Blades for the Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant (WPP)

Project Summary:

Period: May–June 2025
Route: Bautino, Kazakhstan – Baku, Azerbaijan
Vessel fleet: Tug «MB-1216» and Barge «SILVER-3005»
Cargo: ENVISION EN-171 blades for wind turbine on transport frames, 12 pieces
Cargo dimensions: 84.43 m × 4.58 m × 3.419 m

Total weight: 307.95 tons

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION:

The placement, securing, and transportation project for non-standard cargo was developed by the Compass Design Bureau.

During loading, shortcomings were identified on the part of the equipment manufacturer, which necessitated project adjustments, but did not affect the successful implementation of the transportation.

Interesting fact: these giant blades were delivered from China to Kazakhstan by trailers.

Project summary of Khizi-Absheron:

Construction of the Khizi-Absheron wind power plant began in 2022.

It is planned that the plant will produce 1 billion kWh of electricity per year. This will save 220 million cubic meters of natural gas and prevent the emission of more than 400 thousand tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
